Ethical Sourcing

Ethical Sourcing and Sustainability

Red Lily takes seriously its ethical and social responsibilities and is committed to ensuring that our suppliers adhere to our legal, moral, and ethical standards by producing ethically sourced products, upholding human rights, and maintaining fair working conditions.

All products purchased by Red Lily come from ethical sources, and Red Lily, by association, is not party to any illegal or unethical manufacturing standards. Red Lily has implemented significant measures, and all employees, agents, and suppliers must comply with these guidelines at all times.

All our partners, including manufacturers, must adhere to the following minimum standards:

  1. They must comply with all laws, codes, regulations, and industrial standards of the respective country in which they conduct business.
We will independently assess the quality compliance of all the products manufactured for Red Lily.
  2. We will have zero tolerance for practices such as illegal conduct, child labor, discrimination, unsafe working conditions, corruption, and inhumane treatment.
  3. As part of our ethical sourcing commitment, we will only source fabrics that comply with Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX.

What Are We Working Towards?

Here are a few of the many initiatives we work towards as we grow as an Australia-based family business.

1. Use more organic and natural fabric materials.

This means no pesticides, chemicals or herbicides are used during the growing process and therefore, less toxic waste is sprayed into the environment.

On top of that, we are working towards a minimum use of synthetic fibres in our clothes, such as polyester, which may not be biodegradable and can release microplastics into the environment.

Natural low-impact dyes win over synthetic ones too.

2. Manufacture our products in smaller quantities to minimize waste.

This is an expensive initiative and makes our growth as a business slow; however, in the long term, we will all win.

3. More ‘Made in Australia’ stock in our product line.

This way, we not only support local businesses but also reduce transportation-related carbon footprint.

4. Discourage plastic packing and instead promote our recyclable Gift Box solution.

This will also help minimize plastic-related pollution and environmental harm, as well as add a unique feeling of receiving your items in a luxurious Gift Box in all recyclable packaging, minimizing plastic-related pollution and environmental harm.

5. Continuous improvement of the quality of our clothing, increasing their durability and longevity.

Sometimes, paying more at checkout will mean receiving a quality product with a longer wearing span. That’s exactly what we try to do so you can pass on your memories.

6. Innovation in introducing environmentally friendly materials.

This is where the future excites us, as our manufacturers trial future clothing options with fruit and vegetable wastes. All modern-day trendy textiles such as Cotton, Linen, Hemp, Bamboo, Lyocell and Alpaca all have exciting futures in this initiative.
